I own a home.  Well, sort of.  The bank actually owns it, but I live there and make payments to the bank believing it is my house.  One day, it will be; until then, I am just the caretaker of a house another owns.  I get the pleasure of crawling under the house tracking down water leaks and I get to pay for a new roof and I get the joy of unplugging the septic line in the middle of the night on an ice cold, rainy night in November.  But I digress.

The Bible tells us in Psalm 24 that “The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.”

The earth is God’s house.  Actually, it is His footstool, the heavens His throne.  He originally gave the keys to His house to men.

Right now, someone else seems to have ownership of the world; his name is Satan.  Man was supposed to run the world, but because of Adam’s sin, the devil stole away what was designed for man.  The world is now full of rebellion and sin, wars, sickness, disease and death.  One day, the devil is going to get his eviction notice.  Psalm 24:7 says to “Lift up your heads O you gates, and be lifted up you everlasting doorsAnd the King of Glory will come in.”  Sounds like a house to me.

Until the day Jesus comes to reclaim the earth, we are living in a kind of war zone, between the glory and the flame.  Right in the middle of Psalm 24, God lets us know that blessings come to those who have clean hands, pure hearts and seek the face of God.  We have a heavenly home waiting too; in fact Jesus is right now building houses (mansions) for us to live in for eternity.

I’m guessing the pipes never leak
