About us

The church is not a building. The church is the people who have given their lives to Christ, sharing the gospel with others who don’t yet know Him. That said since we don’t like to worship outside in the cold PNW windy rain, Fathers House is a place where people gather together in a building to worship The Father, Son and Spirit and receive practical, helpful Biblical teaching.

The book of Acts records a great move of God in the early New Testament church where salvations, healings and powerful signs were commonplace.

We have the acronym ACTS that describes our mission: Provide an Atmosphere of worship, Catching people,Transforming lives and Serving Jesus by loving people both in and out of the local church, in Longview-Kelso, the United States and overseas.

ACTS

A is for an Atmosphere of expectancy. We believe that, without God, we are nothing and therefore we desperately need Him! Therefore, praise and worship are major parts of our services.

C is for Catching people. The world and the people in it are broken, fallen, and caught in sin. We want to see all who come through our doors to be caught by the love of God.

T is for Transformation. People are transformed by truth. We preach the word of God. We are emboldened and filled with the Holy Spirit. As we get transformed by the truth of God’s word and his Spirit, we are then able to begin to help others in their transformation to grow in Christ, bearing good fruit.

S is for Serving and Sending. We are His workmanship, created for good works in Christ, and our heart is to see people released into their calling serving of Jesus by loving people both in and out of the local church, in Longview- Kelso, the United States and overseas.

Statement of Faith

We hold to the truth from the Nicene Creed and believe:

– that the Bible is God’s revealed and inerrant Word to mankind
– that salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross alone.
– that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today and available for every believer.
– in the traditional biblical definition of man, woman, and marriage.

Our History

Fathers House Church is the result of a combination of three churches in Longview, WA, who felt God calling them in 1996 to merge. Larry Russell was the pastor of New Covenant Church, Jim Bass the pastor of Church of the Risen Savior and Paul Treichel the pastor of Grace Fellowship.

The gift mix of the three pastors gave the church a solid foundation.

Larry was a knowledgeable teacher who had a solid theological background. He certainly could have been a seminary professor. Jim was an excellent counselor who helped many people find freedom in Christ. Paul was the head pastor of the three, leading with joy, common sense and Holy Spirit power.

Fathers House attendance more than doubled in the years since then. We ran out of room in the old building at 1315 Commerce, requiring more space and more seats. Eventually, we put in a bid to purchase what was then the unoccupied Triangle Theater in 2017. It would be a big project, requiring big money.

Big dreams, Big God. That was the slogan of our first of four fund raising campaigns to raise half of the money needed. The church body would give an astounding 2 million dollars towards the project over the next 4 years.

Though he was then an associate pastor in Las Vegas, Paul was instrumental in helping us secure a loan with Wesleyan Investment Foundation for the other half of the money needed to begin and complete construction on this beautiful building contracted by JH Kelly of Longview.

Fathers House had its first service here in this building on Sunday, June 6, 2021.
